The Virtuel Mucem project (Mucem, BnF, AMu) addresses the preservation and remediation of digital heritage content produced in the 2000s and now lost due to technological obsolescence. This corpus of 8 websites, reflecting the Mucem’s emerging identity (prior to its 2013 opening), was examined from multiple perspectives. Given their partial and fragmented archiving (BnF’s WARC files, Mucem’s “digital bulk”), the project combined an archival methodology (source inventory and cataloging, interviews with website producers), technical remediation (creation of a derived WARCD format, content indexing, secure replay environment), and editorialization (an interface...
